Overseas Working Arrangements (OWA)
In order to secure our position as a global University, we need to create a connected and collaborative global workforce, whilst managing compliance and regulatory complexities that arise in Australia and overseas as a result of employees working overseas. Our Overseas Work Arrangement (or OWA) process has been implemented to assist employees, managers and stakeholders to understand their responsibilities, obligations and risks whilst working in an overseas location.
For more information on these responsibilities, obligations and risks, please view the video here.

OWA Process
Any request to work overseas should be raised with your line manager who will commence the OWA assessment process. Any OWA must be approved by your PVC or Executive Manager, Head of School or Director. The OWA assessment process can take between three to eight weeks, depending on the duration, complexity of the arrangement, locations involved and governing laws in those locations.
Once an OWA has been approved, the arrangement will need to be implemented. This may involve third-party providers, establishment of responsibilities, etc. Individuals will not be able to work overseas until the implementation is complete.
Please complete the Overseas Working Arrangements Request Form to initiate the assessment process and upload this using the SupportU Overseas Working Arrangement form. Please refer to the Overseas Working Arrangements Request Form Instructions for further information.
